ABB benefitting Houston’s Ronald McDonald House

ABB and the ABB Foundation is committed to Houston, Texas, home of this year’s Automation & Power World 2012 The ABB Foundation is the charitable arm of ABB that focuses on supporting the communities where ABB employees live and work .
ABB will sponsor a variety of fundraising activities during Automation & Power World, and we invite you be a part of these efforts. ".Each will touch the lives of families from around the United States, and the world, at a very difficult time in their lives.
With your assistance we can help provide a home away from home for hundreds of families dealing with their child’s life-threatening illness. Your contributions will go a long way in their fight to conquer disease and to making the sometimes difficult journey to a healthy and full future a bit easier.
All monies raised by ABB fundraising activities, along with ABB Foundation’s matching grant, have already been earmarked for two extremely worthwhile Ronald McDonald House programs, the Family Activities program and “Pizza Day” at area hospitals. These two programs, described below, give families the opportunity to share their experiences in a relaxed non-clinical setting. Using Automation & Power World as a backdrop, ABB is committed to collecting enough money to fund each program for a full year.
- The Family Activities Program gives parents and children the chance to relax and have fun with each other and other families staying at the Houston Ronald McDonald Houses (HRMH). Activities are varied and include field trips to museums including the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston and the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Zoo, Disney on Ice, plays, movies, and other attractions, arts and craft classes, dinners, visits from sports teams and local celebrities, and much more. These activities are provided year-round for all families and children who stay at HRMH.
- Pizza Day is the most popular day at HRMH’s House inside Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) and the House inside Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital (CMHH). Four times each month, families and children at HRMH’s hospital programs get to enjoy pizza and socialize with other families at the Houses, adding a touch of home to the hospital.
